Just how far should we go with keeping secrets from our loved ones? Do "white lies" have a place in our lives? Look at the following examples.
Example 1
Your wife has just bought a new outfit and is very excited. Do you tell her that the outfit makes her look fat?
Example 2
You discover that your best friend's wife has been cheating on him. The wife begs you not to say anything, arguing that doing that will only hurt youur friend. She promises to mend her ways. Do you rush off to tell your friend? And if not, how do you think your friend is going to feel somewhere down the line when the truth comes out and he discovers that you knew about this all along?
Example 3
You fall pregnant at the age of 13. Your mother raises your child as her own - you are yourself too young to look after yourself, let alone another human being. Years later your daughter is a teenager and most people assume that she is your younger sister - indeed, she even calls your mother "mommy". Do you tell your future husband about this? And what do you think would happen if you don't and he finds out after marryin g you that your "little sister" is in fact your child?
Your thoughts, please!
